Position Summary:

The Equipment Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining various types of heavy equipment used in parking lot maintenance, asphalt paving, concrete work, grading, and sealcoating. This role plays a key part in ensuring job sites are prepared, safe, and efficiently managed to meet project timelines and
quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Equipment Operation:
  • Operate pavers, rollers, skid steers, brooms, loaders, and other equipment required for parking lot paving, concrete, and sealcoating projects.
  • Ensure equipment is operated safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company and OSHA safety guidelines.
  • Perform tasks such as spreading, leveling, and compacting asphalt and other materials.
  • Maintain awareness of surrounding workers, traffic, and obstacles to prevent accidents
    and ensure a safe worksite.

 

• Maintenance and Inspection:
  • Conduct pre- and post-operation inspections of equipment to ensure proper functionality and safety.
  • Perform minor maintenance, including greasing, refueling, and troubleshooting mechanical issues.
  • Report any mechanical issues, malfunctions, or damage to the supervisor promptly.

 

• Site Preparation and Cleanup:
  • Assist in site preparation, including grading, debris clearing, and sweeping to ensure work areas are properly set up.
  • Ensure job sites are clean, organized, and free of hazards at the end of each shift.

 

• Collaboration and Communication:
  • Work closely with crew members, supervisors, and safety personnel to ensure smooth project operations.
  • Follow directions from supervisors regarding project specifications and safety protocols.

Requirements:

• Proven experience operating heavy equipment such as pavers, rollers, skid steers, brooms, and loaders.
• Knowledge of asphalt paving, concrete installation, and sealcoating processes.
• Familiarity with basic equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Ability to read and follow job specifications, safety guidelines, and company procedures.
• Physical ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform tasks requiring lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
• Must be able to work flexible hours, nights and weekends and out of town work as needed.

Qualifications:

• Must have a valid and clean Driver’s License
• Experience in parking lot maintenance or road construction.
• OSHA safety training or certification is a plus.

Work Environment:

• This position involves working outdoors on active construction and maintenance sites, often in varying weather conditions. Safety gear,(PPE) including hard hats, safety vests, gloves, and boots, must be worn at all times.
