Petromat Installation

ACPLM Petromat InstallationIf moisture is allowed to reach your lot’s pavement, it will cause damage down to the base right up to the asphalt surface. Once you can see the damage, it might be too late. The answer comes in the form of petromat overlays, which reduces the infiltration of surface water by placing a water barrier between each layer of pavement. Petromats are used for parking lots in high water tables, parking lots in areas that flood easily, and parking lots with poor drainage or poor base material.

The petromat system is devised with a polypropylene fabric along with an asphalt cement coat. The petromat system is put between layers of pavement to form the roadway/pavement space. The resulting barrier blocks out water and prevents excessive stress that could result in harmful cracks. Try our petromat overlays and you will find that the durability of your new asphalt or concrete pavement greatly extends its lifespan.

How We Implement our Asphalt Petromat Overlay

To begin the asphalt petromat process, we clean the fabric from all dirt, debris, water and other particles. Once the fabric adheres to the manufacturer’s specifications, we apply a liquid asphalt binder. The fabric is then placed to permit a one inch to three-inch overlap of the damaged area and also to prevent wrinkles from forming.

A self-propelled paver is used to install the asphalt cement coating. The edges are tapered along the connecting surface. Each and every utility cover, manhole cover, drain, monument, and any other item is lifted or tapered to the existing grade.

ACPLM is here to provide the equipment and labor necessary to create the mandated compaction required. Once completed, the surface will be dense, smooth, bonded, visually appealing, and evenly textured. ACPLM also provides all of the necessary barricades, cones, and other devices to maintain a safe flow of traffic. We strive to fully protect everyone within range of the work zone.
